ntl worm #1... Thursday, May 26, 2005
Well I'm still waiting for my 2mb broadband. No one at ntl
seems to know how I get it sorted it seems. After the new
set top box was installed yesterday I had to call them to
reconnect the broadband after a two hour outage. Then I
was told the increase to 2mb would happen overnight. Which
night would that be then? Useless! I'll call them later
when I've found the patience. :(
13:49 :: Phoned ntl AGAIN! This time I managed to speak
to someone who can not only breathe in on his own, but out
as well! One STB reboot later and I'm fiiiinally on 2mb/s.
Such a smooth, seamless upgrade process for the end user.
I didn't have to do anything to make it happen. My arse.

2mb day... Wednesday,
May 25, 2005
Well after waiting two months for my NTL engineer visit,
today has finally arrived. Hopefully he's bringing a new
Samsung set top box so I can get my 2mb broadband connection
(the Pace one can't handle it), but I have my doubts they'll
get it right. So now I wait from 8am - 12pm for him to appear,
to install a big can of worms under the TV...

Forget AmIHotOrNot etc. There's a new timewaster on the
net, kittenwar.com!
So I had to enter our
beauties to set the standard. Yes, the names are the
wrong way round but I was on the wine that night! Go, Gertie!
Go, Charlie!

head's in... Thursday,

I decided on the Alpine CDA-9853R below, as everyone seemed
to rate the make. I did a deal with the chap at Huets,
and it was installed before you could say "Turn it down
a bit!" They fit Alpines in Bentleys apparently. Can't see
it myself.

heads up... Sunday,
May 01, 2005
Boo. My car's poxy CD head unit's decided to give up on
me. I only mentioned that I wished it played mp3's and that
was enough for it to die out of shame. It was a nice Kenwood
"mask" unit too, but on Thursday it wouldn't stop playing
The Killers CD. No buttons worked, no lights came on, but
the music kept on playing! So I pushed the tiny reset button
in like the manual suggested and it went in..and in..and
in! Now it's stuck all the way in and the unit's well and
truly shafted!
So it's time for a new purchase, and the current contender
is the Alpine
CDA-9853R. It's got to have a clear dot matrix display,
mp3 playback, and no wanky graphics. Any suggestions?
